Program Structure

In League In Harmony & The Peace Project
PHASE 1: In League In Harmony school-based workshops
The ILIH school program is delivered in school grounds with each session delivered for 90minutes. Each session incorporates 2 key aspects - In class interactive learning activities and physical activity sessions.
Classroom Talk (45mins) - A series (six sessions) of social cohesion theme-based activities conducted by our program facilitators, Within the program, each participant is provided with an ILIH activity book to complete.
Each session incorporates a physical activity component (45mins) - Rugby League skills sessions tailored for both those new to the game and the experienced. We see movement as an educational tool that not only teaches the students the fundamental skills of rugby league, but also promotes key messages such as positive peace, communication, teamwork, courage and Inclusion. We execute non-contact skill-based and modified versions of rugby league such as League Tag.
Phase 2: In League In Harmony Celebratory Gala Day
Let's Play! The celebratory In League In Harmony Gala Day is conducted in the seventh week of the program at a central location for all schools involved for that
school term. Hosted by NRL Social Impact staff, participants celebrate their newly acquired knowledge and skills from the past six sessions and apply their learnings and understanding of living in a positive and inclusive community in this non competitive gala day.
Participants are presented with awards with six (6) Peace Advocates selected from each school to attend the Peace Advocate workshop (Phase 3).
Phase 3: Peace Advocate Workshop
Students who showcased leadership qualities throughout the 6-week In League In Harmony program are selected by NRL Social Impact staff and their teachers to attend the NRL's Peace Advocate Workshop. This workshop includes interactive activities which bring youth together to deep dive into the concept positive peace and how sport can be an enabler for positive change. This workshop will prepare students and teachers to brainstorm their NRL Peace Project submission (Phase 4)
Phase 4: NRL Peace Project Submissions
The 4th and final phase of the In League In Harmony program. Schools participating in the In League In Harmony program will have the opportunity to submit an 'NRL Peace Project'. Throughout the ILIH program, students learn about positive and negative peace concepts and how the 8 Pillars of Peace framework (designed by The Institute of Economics and Peace) can play a connected role in creating peaceful societies. Students, along with their teacher will have 8 x weeks to submit a Peace Project proposal to the NRL. If their project is successful, the school will receive a grant to deliver their project within their school community with the aim to celebrate harmony and diversity in their community.
