NRL Casualty Ward: Metcalf's season over; Broncos lose Arthars, Jensen

The Warriors' worst fears have been confirmed with gun playmaker Luke Metcalf gone for the season after rupturing his ACL against the Broncos.

The injury to Metcalf's right knee occurred when he was tackled by Brisbane second-rower Brendan Piakura in the 67th minute of the clash at Suncorp Stadium.

that a timeline on surgery is yet to be determined for Metcalf.

Fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad suffered a moderate lateral collateral ligament (LCL) sprain in the same game and is expected to be available for the Round 21 clash with the Titans.

The Broncos have suffered a double-blow with Jesse Arthars (ribs) and prop Corey Jensen (calf) ruled out of the Round 18 clash with the Bulldogs on Friday night.

Sea Eagles forward Nathan Brown has undergone surgery to repair a ruptured biceps tendon and is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Brown suffered the injury during the win over Wests Tigers and the club has confirmed he .

The 32-year-old has played 12 games off the bench for Manly in 2025 and offered plenty of impact when coach Anthony Seibold calls on him.

Meanwhile, scans have confirmed Storm flyer Sua Faalogo has suffered a grade three hamstring strain and is unlikely to play again before the finals.

Faalogo enjoyed a day out against the Sharks on Sunday and had racked up 223 run metres before injuring his hamstring late in the game after another long run down the left wing.

The Storm confirmed on Monday that the 22-year-old was expected to miss between 8-12 weeks.

Dolphins playmaker Kodi Nikorima will miss six weeks with a hamstring injury suffered against the Rabbitohs.

A scan has set Nikorima's initial rehab timeline for a return to play in either Round 23 or 24, meaning he should only miss 3-4 games with the Dolphins having byes in Round 18 and 21.

Nikorima's teammate Felise Kaufusi continues his recovery from a knee injury and is targeting a return in Round 22 against the Warriors.

The Dragons have paid a high price for their 34-20 win against Parramatta at WIN Stadium, with fears that forward Toby Couchman could miss the rest of the season and wingers Nathan Lawson and Christian Tuipulotu facing long stints on the sideline.

The trio were among five players from last Saturday night's match at WIN Stadium ruled out of next weekend's trip to Canberra, while fullback Cody Ramsey was also injured in NSW Cup.

Tuipulotu, who was returning from a low-grade right hamstring strain, sustained a low grade left hamstring strain in the warm-up. He is expected to be available in Round 21.

Lawson suffered a scapula fracture in his right shoulder in the second half and is expected to be available in Round 22-23.

Couchman suffered a shoulder dislocation. Next steps will be determined at a specialist review later this week.

Luciano Leilua (quad) came from the field just before half-time and Hamish Stewart failed a HIA. Both will miss Saturday's trip to Canberra but are expected to be available for Round 19.

Fullback Cody Ramsey was also injured in NSW Cup, with scans confirming a moderate grade syndesmosis injury. He has a specialist review later this week to determine a return to play timeframe.

Knights captain Kalyn Ponga faces a lengthy stint on sidelines after suffering a Lisfranc injury in Friday night's match against the Raiders.

Ponga came from the field in the 60th minute after getting his foot caught awkwardly in a tackle by Canberra forward Morgan Smithies.

Meanwhile, the Blues have received a boost with Panthers winger Brian To’o is confident he will be fit to line up in the State of Origin decider despite suffering a knee injury in Penrith’s win over the Bulldogs on Thursday night.

The winger has battled a hamstring complaint throughout the past month, however there was concern midway through the first half when he received treatment for a knee injury.

To’o had the joint strapped up and played out the remainder of the contest. The winger had ice on the knee after the game and now has 10 days to prepare for the Origin decider at Accor Stadium on July 9.

“It’s good,” To’o said post-game. “I think it might’ve happened during the game, either way I’m all good.

“I’m still walking, that’s the main positive sign.”

Meanwhile, scans have confirmed Dolphins’ winger Jack Bostock will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

Bostock will see a surgeon later this week after coming from the field early in the match against Newcastle in Perth on Saturday.

The Knights could be without gun five-eighth Fletcher Sharpe for the rest of the season after he suffered a ruptured spleen and lacerated kidney in Perth on Saturday.

, saying he had been admitted to a Perth hospital after experiencing abdominal pain following his removal from the field in the 48th minute.

The 21-year-old was sent for a HIA after he was tackled from behind and hit his head on the ground but his spleen and kidney were also damaged when he landed heavily on his elbow.

The Roosters have been dealt a blow with forward Siua Wong facing six weeks on the sidelines after scans confirmed an MCL injury suffered in Round 16.

Storm winger Will Warbrick continues his recovery from concussion, with coach Craig Bellamy revealing on Sunday that the Kiwi had started doing some running but could still be another month away from playing.
