Superstar Latrell Mitchell played a key role in the Rabbitohs' win over arch-rivals the Roosters but diminutive fullback Jye Gray again stole the show with 257 run metres and five tackle breaks to skip clear at the top of the Dally M leaderboard.

Gray picked up five votes and Mitchell three as the Bunnies overcame injuries to both their halves to roll the Roosters at Accor Stadium.

The Rabbitohs' only Dally M Medal winner was Robert Laurie in 1980 so Gray is chasing a piece of history as he looks to continue his stunning start to 2025.

Sharks enforcer Addin Fonua-Blake and Broncos gun Pat Carrigan were the only players to poll the maximum six votes in Round 5.
