The Easter weekend of rugby league kicked off on the northern beaches as the Dragons produced back-to-back wins for the first time this season in a tense second half.
The absence of Tom Trbojevic has been sorely felt as Anthony Seibold's men have fallen to losses to the Storm, Sharks and Dragons in consecutive weeks.
Dragons captain Clint Gutherson and halfback Lachlan Ilias called the shots in style as the Red V were forced to dig deep to hold off a late Manly surge.
After a first half riddled with errors by both sides, the game came to life in the second half as ball control improved and some quality tries were scored.

Dragons: Round 7
Sea Eagles: Round 7
Full-time: The Sea Eagles have now lost three on the trot, including two on their home patch at 4 Pines Park. Clint Gutherson was again superb for the Dragons with 191 run metres and a try assist while Tyrell Sloan ran for 211 metres and bagged two tries. Toby Couchman and Jaydn Su'A led the way in the forwards with 143 and 132 metres respectively. The Dragons came up with six line breaks to two and 25 tackle breaks to 16. Lehi Hopoate was sensational for the home side with 272 run metres and seven tackle breaks while Toafofoa Sipley made 173 metres from 16 runs.
From the field: Luke Brooks
80 min: Haumole Olakau'atu is placed on report and penalised for a high shot on Jacob Liddle and the Dragons hang on for a 20-18 victory.
80 min: Manly's night is summed up by a Luke Brooks error on their last roll of the dice for the night.
78 min: Daly Cherry-Evans launches a two-point field goal attempt to try and tie things up but it sails wide left and the score remains 20-18.
74 min: The Sea Eagles mount serious pressure in a bid to take the lead but Haumole Olakau'atu comes up with a loose pass and the Dragons are off the hook.
72 min: Luke Brooks looks to have put Manly in front after the Dragons let a bomb bounce and the No.6 picks it up to score. Replays showed Toafofoa Sipley was in front of the kicker and went inside the 10 metres so the try was disallowed.
Jason Saab Try
67 min: Daly Cherry-Evans backs up his trysaver at one end with a perfectly weighted kick for Jason Saab to fly high and bring the ball down for a try in the corner. Reuben Garrick's kick from the sideline misses narrowly. Dragons 20-18.
65 min: Tyrell Sloan explodes into the back field and chips over the top but Daly Cherry-Evans does a great job to get back and clean up for Manly.
63 min: Manly forward Toafofoa Sipley leaves the field for a HIA which he passes.
63 min: Manly five-eighth Luke Brooks goes on report for a high tackle.
62 min: The Dragons take a punt on running the ball on the last tackle and come up trumps when Lachlan Ilias and Kyle Flanagan combine on the short side to put Jacob Liddle over for a try. Val Holmes converts. Dragons 20-14.
57 min: A slicing run by Lehi Hopoate leaves Lachlan Ilias in his wake and he finds Ben Trbojevic in support to scoot away for a four-pointer that brings the 4 Pines faithful to their feet. Reuben Garrick converts from right in front and we are all tied up. 14-14.
54 min: Straight from the penalty the Dragons hit the ball up through Val Holmes who throws a loose offload and Manly come up with a ball. A penalty follows for Manly and Reuben Garrick knocks it over. Dragons 14-8.
Sipley sent to the sin bin for hip drop
53 min: Dragons winger Mat Feagai comes down in awkwardly in a tackle and Toafofoa Sipley is placed on report and sin binned for a hip drop tackle. Feagai is assisted from the field by two trainers. Because Feagai was injured in an act of foul play the Dragons are able to activate 18th man Sione Finau.
Tolutau Koula Try
50 min: The Sea Eagles hit back when a superb long ball by Lehi Hopoate puts Tommy Talau into space and he delivers the final pass for Tolu Koula to race away and score. Reuben Garrick adds the extras. Dragons 14-6.
Tyrell Sloan 2nd Try
47 min: Another dropped ball by Manly, this time by Ben Trbojevic, is scooped up by Tyrell Sloan who races 90 metres to grab his second try of the night and sixth of the season. Val Holmes' conversion makes it 14-0.
46 min: The Sea Eagles launch another successful captain's challenge after the referee rules a Dragons line dropout didn't go 10 metres and Haumole Olakau'atu touched the ball illegally. The bunker overruled the call and Manly got a chance ti attack.
Half-time: The Sea Eagles completed 12 of 19 sets at just 63 per cent while the Dragons were also below par with 15 of 23 sets completed. For the second week in a row Manly have been held scoreless in the first half after Cronulla led them 8-0 at the break in Perth. Centre Moses Suli ran for 126 metres for the Dragons while Lehi Hopoate chalked up 115 metres for Manly.
39 min: Nathan Brown catches Damian Cook high and is penalised. Val Holmes bangs over the penalty goal from in front to make it 8-0. Cook leaves the field for a HIA which he passes.
38 min: Manly's sloppy first half is summed up by Luke Brooks trying to break through from close range and spilling the ball to make it seven errors for the home side.
Manly's turn to scramble in defence
36 min: Great scramble by Manly forces Tyrell Sloan into touch just short of the tryline to keep the margin at just six.
The Dragons dig deep close to the line
35 min: Nathan Brown gets over the line after a powerful charge but the Dragons muscle up in defence and the bench forward loses the ball over the line.
34 min: Dragons forward Hamish Stewart leaves the field for a HIA. He fails the HIA and is ruled out for the night.
34 min: The Sea Eagles launch a successful captain's challenge after the bunker rules Tyrell Sloan had knocked on trying to take a bomb.
33 min: The Dragons go inside the Red Zone again but Clint Gutherson's short pass to Val Holmes is ruled forward and Manly come away.
29 min: Jazz Tevaga leaves the field for a HIA to compound Manly's woes. He passes and returns at the start of the second half.
27 min: The Dragons come up with an error and then get penalised for failing to pack the scrum and then marched for dissent but again Manly fail to make them pay when Daly Cherry-Evans throws a poor pass over the sideline.
23 min: Clint Gutherson drops a bomb and the Dragons lose their captain's challenge when they claim he was tackled in the air by Haumole Olakau'atu which caused him to drop it. Manly get the scrum feed and come up empty with a full set of six.
Tyrell Sloan Try
19 min: With Manly making a string of errors it's the Dragons who come up with first points thanks to Tyrell Sloan in the corner after Lachlan Ilias and Clint Gutherson combined to put the winger into space. Val Holmes converts. Dragons 6-0.
9 min: The night looks to be over for Jake Trbojevic as he leaves the field for a HIA and is deemed a Category 1 head knock.
8 min: A bit of hot potato by the Dragons on the last tackle finishes with Lachlan Ilias dabbing the ball into the in goal and Jason Saab forced to knock the ball dead but Manly get the ball back from a short dropout.
7 min: Manly's first chance on the attack is wasted as Haumole Olakau'atu spills a Daly Cherry-Evans pass.
4 min: A quick tap and long run by Damien Cook puts the Dragons on the attack but Val Holmes loses the ball just short of the line as he tried to reach out and score.
2 min: The Dragons launch an early left side raid with Clint Gutherson chiming in but Daly Cherry-Evans shuts it down with a strong tackle on Val Holmes.
