Students from across Sydney have come together in a celebration of inclusion, respect and teamwork at the Term 2 In League In Harmony League Tag Gala Day.
Organised under the NRL’s Social Impact Pillar of Inclusion & Diversity, the Gala Day at Smith Park in East Hills brought together boys and girls from diverse cultural and social backgrounds to promote key values such as respect, responsibility, inclusion and resilience - both on and off the field.
Participating schools included Doonside Technology High School, Al-Faisal College Austral, East Hills Boys Technology High School, Ashcroft High School, Oran Park High School and Wiley Park Girls High School.
Each team displayed impressive sportsmanship, unity and school spirit throughout the event.
A special highlight of the day was the Harmony Walk, where all students and staff united in a symbolic walk around the field - a powerful demonstration of solidarity, cultural pride and commitment to social harmony.
The walk served as a visual reminder of the values at the heart of the In League In Harmony program.
Adding further significance to the occasion was the attendance of Ernie Friedlander, founder of the Moving Forward Together association and long-time advocate for multicultural inclusion and anti-racism initiatives.
Mr Friedlander addressed the students, commending them on their participation and encouraging them to continue being positive changemakers in their schools and communities.
“This is what real leadership looks like,” said Mr Friedlander. “When young people come together with respect and empathy, they build the foundations for a better, more inclusive society.”
As the games concluded and medals were awarded, the message of the day rang clear: Sport is more than just a game - it’s a bridge between people, cultures and communities.
The In League In Harmony Gala Day once again proved that when students play, walk, and grow together, they truly are stronger together.
