Sharks v Roosters: No changes for Fitzy; Veteran playmaker returns

Having steadied the ship with a win over the Dolphins, Craig Fitzgibbon's Sharks now look to knock off another of the sides in the logjam between fifth and 10th on the ladder.

The Sharks find themselves in unfamiliar territory outside the top eight but last week's win pulled them up one spot and gave cause for optimism as Nicho Hynes' running game came to the fore in a gritty victory.

The Roosters welcomed Sam Walker back as they took care of business against the Dragons to give them an 8-8 record for the season heading into a crucial month of footy in which they face the Sharks, Storm, Sea Eagles, Dolphins and Bulldogs.

The Roosters have missed the finals just once since 2013 - a proud record they will be determined to keep intact with a strong finish to the season.

Team News

Sharks: The Sharks have named an unchanged starting side following last week's win over the Dolphins. Addin Fonua-Blake will play his 200th NRL game, while Sifa Talakai remains in the centres. Daniel Atkinson comes on to the bench in the only change to the 17, with Billy Burns reverting to 18th man. Sam Stonestreet has been named in the extended squad and is a chance of an NRL return after making a successful comeback from an ankle injury via NSW Cup last week.

Roosters: Coach Trent Robinson has opted to recall Chad Townsend to replace injured five-eighth Hugo Savala, with the veteran set for his first NRL game since Round 5. Sandon Smith has been named in the extended squad. Just one other change to the team that defeated the Dragons last week, with Lindsay Collins returning to the starting side and Spencer Leniu shifting back to the bench.
