What a way to open the final round of the 2025 season!

After months of hard grind, some memorable wins and heartbreaking losses, the Brisbane Broncos had their double chance destiny in their own hands in front of a raucous crowd of 44.465 at Suncorp Stadium.

With Reece Walsh at his scintillating best the Broncos prevailed 30-14 to set up a qualifying final against the Raiders in Canberra.

The Storm were locked into second place regardless of the result but a season-ending arm injury to Jahrome Hughes in his first game back from a shoulder dislocation only compounded the pain.

The last time the Storm lost back-to-back games was early in the 2023 season and they will head into a qualifying final against the Bulldogs without Hughes and possibly Nelson Asofa-Solomona, who is facing another charge for a high tackle.

The finals picture now looks like this:

  • (1st) Raiders v (4th) Broncos
  • (2nd) Storm v (3rd) Bulldogs
  • (5th) Sharks/Warriors v (8th) Panthers/Roosters/Dolphins
  • (6th) Sharks/Warriors v (7th) Panthers/Roosters
